The members of harvest committee who served for two tenures, 2017 and 2018, of Sacred Heart Parish, Wusasa was, on Sunday, January 27, were given various awards for their meritorious service to the church.
Presenting the awards to the committee, the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Cletus Dauya, applauded the committee for their commitment to the success of the harvest, adding that the award was to appreciate them for their efforts. “It is not easy to sacrifice time, resources and energy for the work of God. We felt appreciating them with an award is the right thing to do. I commend them,” he said.
Responding to the gesture, the harvest committee chairwoman of 2017 and 2018, Mrs. Justina Orizu, thanked the pastoral team and the parish laity council for finding her committee worthy of the award and said such gesture would spur others to render their service without grudges. “You see this award is not money but a recognition for a work well done and we sincerely appreciate it. Money is not everything but when you are recognized publicly with this kind of award, you feel happy and would want to work more. Thank you,” Sshe said.
The parish priest later announced the appointment of Mrs. Anthonia Bisi Johnson as the new harvest chairwoman for 2019 and 2020 to be assisted by Mr. Christian Uba. According to him, the parish adopted the tradition of appointing harvest committee to serve for tenures in order to consolidate on their assignment. “When you make mistakes in the first tenure, you consolidate in your second tenure so as to have a balance,” he said.
